Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor Broda Shaggi has reportedly been hospitalised after he was allegedly shot while filming a comedy skit.

The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Perry, was said to have been injured on Sunday afternoon, March 8, under the Sango-Ota bridge in Ogun State during a video shoot. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have not yet revealed who may have been responsible for the shooting.

According to reports, a police source confirmed to Punch that members of Broda Shaggi’s crew quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital after the incident occurred.

He was initially taken to Blooming Care Hospital, where medical personnel provided first aid treatment upon his arrival. The source noted that doctors attended to the injury immediately to stabilise his condition.

After receiving initial treatment, the comedian was referred to Duchess Hospital, located in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, Lagos. He is currently recovering at the facility as doctors continue to monitor his condition.

Officials say the shooting left Broda Shaggi with an injury to his thigh. Despite the scare, reports indicate that he is receiving medical care and recuperating.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development while speaking about the incident.

According to Adebisi, the police were first alerted after the hospital reported that a gunshot victim had been brought in for treatment.

“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility,” she explained. “Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggi.”

She further revealed that officers found the entertainer lying on a stretcher with a gunshot wound to his thigh when they arrived at the hospital.

Authorities also clarified that the exact location where the incident occurred falls outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos State Police Command. The shooting reportedly happened in Sango-Ota, which is located in Ogun State.

“The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” Adebisi said.

At the moment, law enforcement agencies are working to gather more details about what exactly happened during the filming of the skit. It is still unclear whether the shooting was accidental, part of a criminal attack, or related to the filming process.

Broda Shaggi is widely known in Nigeria for his comedic skits and energetic performances on social media. Over the years, he has built a large fan base through his humorous characters and creative storytelling in short videos.

Fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry have expressed concern following the news of the incident and are hoping for his quick recovery as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
